Digital Advertising always requires a budget, or media spend, to be allocated to the platforms running your ads (i.e. Google or Meta). It can be one of the quickest tactics for driving awareness, website traffic, and on or offsite conversions, such as sales—but, is only effective for as long as ads are active.

Digital Marketing, on the other hand, typically requires more time in which to begin to see results, but is considered a long-term strategy for small businesses, solopreneurs, & nonprofits. Marketing tactics themselves do not require ad spend, but often require the use of platforms, such as CRMs, that themselves incur ongoing costs.
